The Better Business Bureau of Dayton/Miami Valley Inc. handled more complaints last year than ever before.
The local BBB reported Tuesday it saw a 30 percent increase in complaints from 2006 to 2007, with more than 5,500 last year.
The industries with the most complaints were credit card processing services, home improvement companies and new car dealers.
The bureau said the number of complaints against credit card processing services stemmed from a company that is headquartered in the Dayton area and all of its complaints nationwide are handled by the bureau locally.
