* Debit/credit card theft victims in DeSoto County now around 500
* FBI and Secret Service are heading up investigation
* Still no arrests
There's another twist in the DeSoto County credit card theft ring. Investigators thought they had pin-pointed the source that was hacked. But that's turning out not to be the case.
Commander Mark Blackson of the DeSoto County Sheriff's Dept. told News Channel3 last week that Cynergy Data, a third party credit card processing center, had been hacked into.
Tuesday he apologized and said, "Cynergy Data has nothing to do with this at all. The information I released earlier is incorrect. The information given to me was not true."
Cynergy is based out of New York. The company tells News Channel3 they monitor their computer system almost 24 hours a day and have several layers of security in place to protect their customers.
